Cherry Studio

Add RuToken as an OpenAI-compatible provider in the Cherry Studio desktop AI client.

Cherry Studio is a desktop AI client for Windows, macOS and Linux with multi-provider chat, 30+ built-in assistants, knowledge bases, MCP tools and image generation. Download: cherry-ai.com/download, docs: docs.cherry-ai.com.

Prerequisites

  • An API key: open the console, go to API Keys and create a dedicated key (for example, named Cherry Studio).
  • Cherry Studio installed and opened at least once.

Configuration

Option A: one-click import

If your administrator has enabled it, open the actions menu of your key on the API Keys page and choose Chat → Cherry Studio. The browser opens Cherry Studio with the API address and key pre-filled; confirm the import and continue with step 3 below.

Option B: manual setup

  1. In Cherry Studio, open Settings → Model Provider and click Add.

  2. Enter a name (for example RuToken), choose the provider type OpenAI and fill in:

    Field Value
    Provider type OpenAI
    API key sk-xxxx
    API address https://rutoken.ai

Use the root address — Cherry Studio appends /v1/chat/completions automatically.

  3. Click Manage (or Fetch models) and add the models you need. For manual entries, use the exact model ID from the Model Square.

  4. Turn on the provider's enable switch.

To draw images, add an image model (for example one tagged for image generation in the Model Square) to the same provider and open the Painting page.

Verify

Click Check next to the API key, or start a new chat, pick a model from the RuToken provider and send Hello, please reply with "Connection successful".. The request appears in the console under Usage Logs.

Troubleshooting

Symptom Fix
401 / invalid API key Copy the full key again; check for spaces and that it is enabled, not expired and has quota left.
404 / not found Use https://rutoken.ai as the API address — without /v1 and without the /chat/completions path.
Model not found Use exact model IDs from the Model Square and check the key's model limits.
